  • The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is committed in promoting safety awareness in the construction industry. The competition, themed ‘Safety‧Reunion’, encourages participants to design posters around the concept of safety in the construction industry. It reminds practitioners to always prioritise safety, emphasising the importance of caring for themselves as well as others, and wishing them a safe return home to reunite with their families after work.

    Awardees have to attend the Construction Safety Poster Design Award Presentation Ceremony on 12th January 2025;

    Staff of the Construction Industry Council, members of the Construction Industry Council Youth Affairs Committee, judging panel and their immediate family members are not allowed to participate in this competition;

    Each participant can only submit one entry. If more than one entry is submitted, the organiser will disqualify all submissions of the participant;

    Entries must be the original works of the participants that have not been previously publicised or participated in any other events or competitions. Plagiarism, use of others' works or materials, or impersonation of other participants is strictly prohibited. Participants must ensure that they own all rights to the content in their works, including but not limited to images, pictures, and text, for ownership, modification, and publication;

    If a submitted entry does not meet the requirements, it will be disqualified without prior notice (please visit Competition Webpage for details);

    Copyright of all successfully uploaded works vested with the CIC, and all rights to use and dispose of the works are reserved;

    If participants use hand-drawn designs, they must retain the physical artwork; if computer-aided designs, participants must keep the design files. If the artwork wins an award, the organisers may request the submission of the physical artwork / design files for verification, judging, exhibition, and other purposes. Failure to submit the requested materials may result in disqualification. All submitted works will become the property of the organisers and will not be returned;

    the CIC reserves the right to publish, edit, reproduce, exhibit, distribute works through any media, compile works into publications, and utilise the names of participants, their respective schools / organisations, and works for non-commercial promotional and publicity purposes, without the need for prior consent from participants or payment of copyright fees;

    the CIC reserves the right to include the names of participants and the names of their respective schools / organisations when publishing, presenting, or uploading the entries;

    Participants must agree that they will be solely responsible for any claims, losses, additional expenses, compensations, and liabilities arising from any violation of the terms related to their submitted work, and that the CIC will not be held liable in any way, and the participant shall keep CIC indemnified against all claims, proceedings, losses, damages and costs sustained by CIC in relation thereto;

    All winning entries may be uploaded to the CIC or Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) websites and social media pages for public viewing, and may be printed as posters to be displayed at construction sites to promote construction safety;

    CIC reserves the right to modify and interpret the competition rules without prior notice;

    Participants must adhere to the regulations of this design competition to ensure the smooth progress of the event;

    Results of the Competition shall be subject to the decision of the Judging panel and shall not be disputed by the participants; the CIC reserves the right to amend the program of the Terms and Conditions. In case of any disputes, the CIC reserves the right of final decision and interpretation.

  • Personal Data

    1. Collection of Personal Data

    1.1. The information you provide to the Construction Industry Council, its affiliates, and / or its subsidiaries, including, but not limited to, the Hong Kong Institute of Construction and Zero Carbon Building, Construction Sector Imported Labour Quarters Limited (collectively, the “CIC”), including any personal data as defined in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap.486), will be used solely for purposes related to the activities of the CIC. The activity and the required personal data are detailed in the application form.

    1.2. Whether or not you provide your personal data to the CIC is voluntary. However, where you are providing information for the purpose of an application, it is necessary that you supply the CIC with complete information as specified on the application form. Otherwise, the CIC may be unable to process or consider your application. If you are under the age of 18, you should consult your parent or guardian before providing any personal data to us.

    1.3. You are entitled to request access to and correction of any errors in your personal data.     2. Purpose of Collection

    Your personal data will be kept confidential and may be used by the CIC for the following purposes:

    a. Application for the competition;

    b. CIC staff and/or any third party commissioned by CIC may take photographs and/or videos of event participants, including you, during the event (award ceremony). Such photographs and/or videos may be used for marketing and promotional purposes by the CIC or in other social media and/or communications. It is your responsibility to provide your personal data to the Council for the above purposes. Otherwise, we will not be able to process or consider your application.

    c. CIC will be capturing the event through video and audio recordings. These recordings will be strictly utilized for promotional and educational objectives. Participants are strictly prohibited from disseminating the content of the sharing session in any format, including but not limited to audio and video recordings, without prior written consent from the CIC.

    d. Facilitating communication with you;

    e. Performing and exercising functions and powers of the CIC under relevant legislation, rules and sub-legislation, including but not limited to the Construction Industry Council Ordinance (Cap. 587) and Construction Workers Registration Ordinance (Cap. 583);

    f. Establishing, exercising and defending the CIC’s legal rights, and complying with the CIC’s legal and regulatory obligations (including anti-money laundering obligations, complying with orders by courts or regulators, etc.);

    g. Managing access to the CIC’s premises and for security purposes;

    h. Preventing and responding to actual or potential security threats, fraud or illegal activities;

    i. Handling complaints or enquiries;

    j. Performing analysis and conducting research and surveys;

    k. Performing audits and compliance reviews to ensure compliance with the applicable CIC’s policies and procedures, regulations and law;

    l. Other purposes related or incidental to the conduct of the CIC’s activities;

    m. Any other purposes that you may consent to from time to time.

     

    3. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data

    3.1 The CIC may disclose or transfer your personal data for the purposes as stated in paragraph 2 to third parties, including but not limited to the following:

    a) Any or all of the CIC’s affiliates and/or subsidiaries;

    b) Any third party service providers, contractors/sub-contractors that, on behalf of the CIC, operate or maintain membership, event registration, tour booking, researches and/or analysis, or carry out back-end services, administrative services, verification services, cloud services or information technology services, or provide necessary support or services to the CIC to enable us to provide our services, including any insurance, banking or third party payment gateways services used by the CIC, and any other entities that discharge contractual obligations on our behalf;

    c) Any of the CIC’s professional advisors, including but not limited to lawyers, accountants and auditors; or


    3.2 We may disclose and transfer your personal data in accordance with any legal or regulatory requirements or any court order applicable to the CIC.

    To keep you informed of CIC activities and developments in the construction industry which may be of interest, the CIC would like to use your personal data, including your name, phone number, and email address, to update you in relation to CIC training courses, trade testing, registration, events and other aspects of its work and developments in the construction industry.
